About the Cape Welsh Choir
The choir has had a number of musical directors and accompanists over the years and we are now privileged to have Bill Holland as our Musical director and Helen Broekmann as our Accompanist, both extremely accomplished musicians and teachers in Cape Town music and theatrical circles.
The size of the choir has fluctuated over the years and currently consists of about twenty five choristers . The Choir has done over 860 concerts and fundraisers in over thirty eight years, mainly for schools, churches, retirement villages and charity organisations.
The mission of the choir is to foster the art of choral singing in the Welsh Male voice style, whilst raising funds for deserving causes at the same time.
We are a registered Non Profit Organisation and The Choir is also a member of the Welsh Association of Male Voice Choirs and have strong connection to the local Cape Welsh Society.
We still have a number of Welsh members and others with strong Welsh connections, a few of whom have been with the choir since inception, complimented by South Africans and others from English and Afrikaans and other national backgrounds.
The Cape Welsh Choir is currently undertaking a marketing initiative to boost our exposure in the marketplace and to increase the number of worthwhile fundraising events for various communities as well as concentrating efforts to increase the size of the choir .
